Mplus Base Program and Mixture Add-On (32-bit) by Muthen & Muthen is a statistical software package for latent variable modeling. The Base Program provides a flexible, syntax-driven environment for single-level SEM, CFA/EFA, path analysis, regression with continuous, binary, ordinal, nominal, and count outcomes, mediation and moderation analysis, item response theory models, and latent growth curve modeling. It supports maximum likelihood (including robust variants), weighted least squares (e.g., WLSMV/ULSMV), and Bayesian estimation; handles missing data under MAR; offers fit indices and modification indices; and includes bootstrapping, Monte Carlo simulation, and plotting.
The Mixture Add-On extends the Base Program to finite-mixture modeling, including latent class analysis, latent profile analysis, factor mixture models, and growth mixture models. It provides tools for class enumeration (e.g., information criteria and likelihood-based tests), posterior classification and entropy, and options to relate classes to covariates and distal outcomes.
This 32-bit edition is intended for legacy 32-bit Windows systems and has lower memory limits than the 64-bit edition, which can affect very large models.
Typical users include researchers in psychology, education, public health, and market research who need to model complex relationships and uncover unobserved heterogeneity.
